Jason Dominy has been in the coffee business for the past 16 years. In that time, he has held positions opening and managing coffee shops, as well as roasting and training. Currently he works for Batdorf and Bronson Coffee Roasters in Atlanta, as Wholesale Support and Outreach Coordinator.
For the past five years, he has shared his expertise and energy volunteering in different capacities with the SCAA, including serving on the Training Committee/Professional Development Committee, volunteering with the SCAA in trainings and labs, and serving as the Chair of the Barista Guild’s Executive Council.
Dominy’s passion is in sharing specialty coffee with as many consumers as possible, educating when possible, and opening up new worlds of coffee drinking. He do this through lots of things like Coffee 101s I hold in Atlanta, where almost 1000 people have attended them in the past year. I hold brewing Coffee 101s and brewing demos at local stores like Whole Foods and Williams Sonoma. I also created the Coffee Ambush, where I go into businesses and hand brew coffee for their staff all morning with the help of fellow baristas. This is a great way to introduce whole offices of people to what specialty coffee is, and many of the offices are stocked with pod and cartridge coffee makers and mass market coffee. I also host large events at our Roastery, to get more consumers in to see what we do. In the past year, we’ve hosted more than 2500 people into our Roastery at various events.
When he’s not doing coffee things, he enjoys time with his wife of 10 years, April. He also enjoys time with friends, playing lots of disc golf, and driving his MINI Cooper S as much as he can.
